This boat looks too large to be 25.5 feet, and it also looks like it can't get out of its own way.  We were very surprised to find out that this a very good sailing vessel.  We have used it for classes and prefer it to our Pearson 26 due to the extra room.  There's lot's of wood down below, abundant sleeping room, porta potti fixed forward of the salon for privacy, and a pop-top.  Great day sailor and weekender.  Coming soon: more details, pictures, and even a video clip.

Owner loves the boat, but stepped up to a more substantial cruiser for longer trips.

    Asking $5,900

Here's Sunbow with a class in progress.

Take a quick video tour of Sunbow!

Sunbow is a well equipped Pearson 30 that is owned by one of our instructors (who in turn bought it from another instructor).  Each instructor sought to sell her, grudgingly, due to a long-distance relationship with the boat.  We've used her fairly often for teaching Basic Coastal Cruising and Bareboat Charter, as well as our popular evening sails.

This scenic shot was put in largely for scenery.  The Pearson logo is at the top of the main, and the radar reflector hangs off the starboard spreader.  Lazy jacks add some diagonal elements to the composition.

Here we have the Sailing Center's Director Steve Card, Captain Mihai Cosereanu, Sunbow's owner, and one of our instructors, his wife Sabina, and friend Radu.  This was on New Year's Day 2005.

We motored and sailed around on Sunbow that day.  Sunbow's binnacle and steering wheel have a nice compass and Raymarine autopilot (latter is only a few years old).

The Pearson 30, like the smaller Pearson 26 we use at the Sailing Center, is an excellent sailing vessel.  She's quick in light winds and plenty stable in a blow.  Furthermore, the P-30 sails exceptionally well under mainsail alone.  Like most boats in her class, she sails well under genoa alone, too, but the main-alone thing is the exception rather than the rule.  We recommend the P-30 highly.

Sunbow has a very clean interior, with all cushions intact and nicely upholstered.  Her head is plumbed to a holding tank so no conversion is necessary.  Sinks work, too!

    New Listing:

    1978 Hunter 25, "Necessary"

  • Main, working jib, drifter genoa
  • 9.9 Evinrude electric-start o/b
  • all USCG required equipment
  • 4-person inflatable dinghy
  • Magma barbecue kettle
  • VHF
  • Tuff-Luff headsail feeder system
  • other miscellaneous items

  •

Very nice small cruiser/daysailer.  Sleeps four.  Recommended for day trips, overnighting and weekending. For two or three people, also suitable for coastal cruising.  Hanldes quite well - owner typically gets underway and back on the mooring under sail!  Of course having an electric start engine with full time available pull-cord start as well makes things easier when conditions are unsuitable to sail.

This model has a shoal-draft fixed keel.  Good balance of cockpit space and interior accommodations.  Interior is very clean, leak-free, and doesn't smell.  All cushions are intact and in nice, clean shape.

Galley has Kenyon pressurized alcohol stove and sink.  Cabin has fold-away drop leaf table, shown here with the leaf down for easy fore-and-aft access.  Lots of wood in the interior, and it's in good shape, too.

V-berth above, and head area to the right, currently with porta potti.  Sliding wood door for privacy; not common in this size.  (Could install fixed head and holding tank if preferred.)

The V-berth has a Bomar hatch above for light and ventilation.

Owner is a student of the school who went on to buy this boat from an outgoing customer who moved to Ithaca.  Current owner selling due to time constraints on use of boat.

    Asking $4,500.

Most vessels we list are located at our facility, so in case you're looking for a home for the boat as well, see our marina page for more information about our services.  We're moving to Consolidated Yachts on City Island effective April '07, and there are numerous other vessels for sale there from 20's on up through 40-somethings.
