Two Universities from Manhattan, Columbia and Fordham, have sailing teams. Both are based on City Island. (And when Columbia's Sailing Club wants to arrange a learn-to-sail or navigation course, guess who they call...) What does THAT tell you about learning to sail here versus Manhattan/NY Harbor/Hudson River? See for yourself - watch a SHORT YOUTUBE VIDEO of the Fordham University Rams starting a sailing race at City Island. Watch boat #4 closely. They're called over the line early before the start and have to round the end and come back - but face a solid wall of other boats with right of way. Watch how they handle it and listen to the reaction of the coaches in a chase boat you don't see! (Turn your volume up as this was shot with an iPhone and needs a boost.)

If a picture says a thousand words, imagine how much you can learn by watching a few minutes of cyber celluloid! Here are some short videos to help you learn about sailing in general and our sailing school in particular.
We think this is the most effective way for you to get a strong sense of what's involved in going to sailing school, short of visiting us and taking a tour and a free preview sail. Most schools have brochures, slogans, and marketing claims. Most DO NOT have videos. Our in-house videos are candid and unscripted. When we're on TV, the sailing action is not coreographed in any way and, believe it or not, most of the dialogue is also ad lib. Even student and instructor commentary is candid response to questions with no scripting. (One competitor has a professionally produced video that has a "student" making a false claim about that school's program that the school knows is not true and affects a number of other schools, including ours.)
So, cut through the b.s. and let the videos speak for themselves. Enjoy!
